Today, the coronavirus (SARS COV-2) has become a worldwide pandemic and has spread to about 200 countries. By the time I am writing this article, around 22.25 million people all over the world have been infected with this virus. The virus is a genetically developed type of SARS, SARS also infected about eight and a half thousand (8437) people in 2002 and 813 people died. Since the SARS started in the month of May and by the end of July, the virus itself becomes inactive due to a rise in temperature. Since the Coronavirus is a more genetically evolved type of SARS, many scientists thought that the corona would also end as SARS was automatically eradicated by summer. Today, due to coronavirus, the employment of millions of people all over the world has ended, many small big businesses have either closed down or they have suffered huge economic losses, the entire world economy is shaken and everybody living in fear. Before knowing the technical information of coronavirus, we have to know its origin.
In late 2019, China informed the WHO that a different type of virus has been detected in a citizen of the Wuhan city. From the news quoting China, on the internet and news, we get to know that when the Chinese scientists analyzed the DNA of this virus, they came to know that this virus is a genetically developed type of SARS and then It is scientifically named as SARS COV-2. During the analysis of the DNA of the virus, the scientists found that the virus is like a barbed ball where the nucleus of the DNA in the center is surrounded by fat and protein spikes. In appearance, the virus is looking the same as the outermost part of our sun called the corona, due to which the virus became known as coronavirus in common parlance. But as time progressed, the infection of the virus was found in many people in Wuhan and by the end of December, thousands of people became victims of this infection. Due to little knowledge about the virus in the early days, the Department of public health and Medicine did not pay much attention to it and when the infection spread to thousands of people, reaching other countries outside of China, the World Health Organization (WHO) Declared it a worldwide pandemic. And then the whole world understood the seriousness of this virus, research was done in almost every laboratory related to the virus in the world and from where we came to know very deep things about this virus.
Researchers from all over the world have contributed and are contributing to the understanding of the coronavirus. Through research, we found that almost two hundred (200) types of coronavirus are found in bats, and due to these bats, the virus went to another animal Panguline and after consuming Panguline, the virus entered into humans and its infection started. As a result of the research, we came to know that the symptoms of coronavirus infection are like a common cold such as mild body temperature rise, runny nose, sneezing, etc. In recent research, we came to know that the symptoms of people who are more prone to infection and whose condition is becoming fragile due to it include the lack of smell and taste of food items. After research and preliminary medical examination, it was found that people who are healthy do not show symptoms and if coronavirus has entered their body then the body’s immunity kills the virus. We have found in the investigation and research of patients that patients who are already suffering from some diseases like high blood pressure, lung disease, diabetes, kidney problems, heart diseases, etc., those people are becoming seriously ill, many body parts of such people are getting damaged and due to which all of them are dying. The disease caused to people due to coronavirus infection has been named by researchers as COVID-19.
Science has told us that when the coronavirus enters the human body, then this virus is attached to the blood. In the blood where oxygen should be mixed and oxygen should reach the whole body through the blood, this virus stops the oxygen from getting attached to the blood and due to which oxygen does not reach the whole body. Many patients have died due to lack of oxygen, heart attack, several parts of the body have been damaged simultaneously. When we came to know the structure of the coronavirus, its attacking mechanism, science immediately moved on to its next step and started making vaccines for its permanent treatment. Today, when I am writing this article, three vaccines have been made and their trail is in the final stages and it is expected that by the end of this year, this vaccine will be fully accessible to the common people. Even though we do not have an exact vaccine for the virus, but science has told us about the structure of the coronavirus and its attacking mechanism so, with its help, we are using most of the options to cure its different symptoms and being able to save many lives. Due to science, the death rate of this virus is less than two percent.
If we talk about the contribution of physics in fighting against the coronavirus, then it would not be wrong to say that its contribution is unforgettable. The techniques used and have been used to understand the structure of viruses, such as X-RAY Diffraction, synchrotron, etc. All these techniques are due to physics. With the help of these techniques, we have been able to understand the structure of coronavirus and other proteins and viruses. The ventilators working in the treatment of patients work on the laws of physics and they are built on them. When physicists studied the coronavirus flowing in the air, they found that the virus spreads the fastest due to our sneezing droplets, even when talking phlegm and loudly, this virus can infect another person by flowing in the air. According to the laws of physics, when the virus was studied, we came to know that this virus moves fastest, the longest through humans sneeze and infect others. Scientists studied all this using fluid mechanics and the settling down distance for sneeze found to be six feet, and since then Social Distancing has been promoted by governments around the world and the World Health Organization (WHO) considered this an important preventive measure and gave strict instructions to all citizens to follow. today, many kinds of research are engaged in measures to eliminate the coronavirus inside the body with the help of nanotechnology. Where the nanoparticle will be inserted into the blood of a coronavirus infected person and then the virus will connect with the nanoparticle and then with the help of lite electromagnetic waves from outside, we will be able to kill the virus. There are many problems with this system right now, but in the future, this system will provide us with the treatment of many diseases. Here we saw that physics is playing an important role in dealing with the coronavirus.
Today, we do not have any exact treatment of coronavirus and because of this, the whole world is upset. Till the treatment of this virus is found, we will have to maintain this social distancing, wear a mask, wash hands often, and adopt a healthy lifestyle forever. We need to learn from this virus that human health is the most valuable thing in the world, so to keep the body healthy, we have to adopt a better lifestyle which includes regular exercise, nutritious food. And we also need to learn that we are not the owners of this earth, and we only have this earth to live and we will have to pass this to our next generations. It is our duty to use the resources of the Earth very carefully and keeping the next generation’s future in mind. It is our duty to provide a good and clean environment for our future generations.
